Scope and Content: Letter formally requesting reinstatement in the civil service. Within the letter Fawsitt also adds a footnote from Joseph McGrath which is a recommendation or endorsement of Fawsitt’s application for reinstatement.
Scope and Content: Letter marked ‘personal’, referring to the matter of Fawsitt’s reinstatement in the civil service. Fawsitt states that he has received communication from P. McGilligan that he cannot be appointed to a post overseas until he is reinstated. Fawsitt believes McGilligan would be willing to appoint Fawsitt to such role, and therefore he is looking from Blythe for an update on the progress of his application. Fawsitt also states: ‘I have learned from the press there have been many reinstatements of former officers who either had taken up arms against the state or had been dismissed for political reasons’.
