Scope and Content: File enclosure, originally containing printed copy of Articles of Agreement of the Anglo-Irish Treaty, witnessed and autographed by Robert Barton (ref. PR81/1/3/D/07). Printed on paper marked Aireacht Um Tiuscal Agus Trachtail (Ministry of Industry and Commerce). Carries note ‘Peace-Conference. Irish- British Treaty’.

Scope and Content: 1. Letter dated 24 November 1921 from Liam de Roiste to Diarmaid Fawsitt enclosing letter from unidentified female writer of 15 Grattan Hill Cork, and Edward Sheehan of same address. Letter requests Fawsitt to forward matter on to President. (1 page) 2. Letter dated 9 November 1921 from unidentified writer on paper headed 15 Grattan Hill Cork. Possibly Edward Sheehan’s sister Agnes Mary Barrett or mother Norah Sheehan. The writer calls for Cork not to be ‘ “left” as a result of the bargaining...our interests are too heavy to be slighted after what has been endured’. President Eamon de Valera, the Minister for Home Affairs, and Local Government Board are all criticised for not visiting Cork since the truce began four months earlier. (2 pages) 3. Letter dated 9 November 1921, signed Edward Sheehan, 15 Grattan Hill, addressed to Liam de Roiste. The letter states Sheehan had written to the Lord Mayor of Dublin and President to outline his proposals for a better scheme to manage claims of malicious injury or damages claims resulting from the war of independence. The letter criticises the figure of 9.5 million published as a ‘ridiculous understatement’. Calls on the Irish delegates to request for compensation from the British government.

Scope and Content: Extract from the political correspondent of The Morning Post quoting views of Lord Carson (Edward Carson) on the Anglo-Irish treaty. Carson is quoted as saying the treaty is an ‘abject humiliation for Great Britain’. He is also quoted voicing fears of ‘customs posts all along her frontier’, in reference to Northern Ireland.

Scope and Content: Printed publication titled ;’The Three Dominion Constitutions’, produced by authority of the Provisional Government, Dublin. Includes copies of legislation and other information relating to the legal status and constitutional operation of Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

Scope and Content: Printed copy of Articles of Agreement of the Anglo-Irish Treaty, witnessed and autographed by Robert Barton, T.D., Minister of Economic Affairs, Plenipotentiary. This document is not signed by the other delegates but was removed from a folder marked with the note that this copy was circulated by the Irish delegates in London. The treaty includes eighteen articles of agreement and contains an annex or schedule relating to the treaty ports including Cobh (Queenstown) and Berehaven, Co. Cork.
