Two of the items, dated 29 September, refer to warehousemen at IAWS, Dublin, and to Jewellery & Metal MFG Co, Dublin. Placed at the end of the file are loose items evidently relating to tribunals but not clearly fitting with the foregoing. Items include the following: Agreement between Wexford Gas Consumers Company and Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union, 29 April 1940, and undated table showing wages of employees of Wexford Gas Co; page showing present wages of workers at Cork cinemas (Palace, Ritz, and Coliseum) and at Galway cinemas (undated).

Scope and Content: File relating to a trade dispute at Edenderry Shoe Company, in which Diarmuid Fawsitt was appointed arbitrator by the Minister for Industry and Commerce. The file includes the following: letter from W Maguire, Department of Industry and Commerce, appointing Fawsitt as arbitrator with terms of reference to determine whether Bernard McGuinness was dismissed by reason of his appointment as an officer of the Edenderry section of the Drogheda Branch of the National Union of Boot and Shoe Operatives (NUBSO) (20 August 1942); rough page noting attendance, witnesses, and mediators; notice placing all employees on one week’s notice ‘for the purpose of reorganisation’ (7 May 1942); ts statement by NUBSO ‘Circumstances of the dismissal of Mr B McGuinness by the Edenderry Shoe Co’.
