Scope and Content: Letter acknowledging receipt of Fawsitt’s letter, ‘re. non-civil servant members of the tariff comm’.

Scope and Content: Letter advising that Fawsitt has attempted to meet Ernest Blythe personally but has been unable owing to Blythe’s illness. Fawsitt states he is anxious not to avoid an ‘official rebuff’ to his application for reinstatement to the civil service and requests advice from McGrath.

He states: ‘I am now forced to conclude that there is little likelihood of my application being entertained. In awaiting a reply from the government he has been unemployed for two months.

Scope and Content: A letter from Secretary Murray confirming that following conversation between McGrath and Mr McGilligan, it was stated that if Fawsitt had not already done so he should formally apply for reinstatement to the civil service. A manuscript note from McGrath to Fawsitt written over Murray’s letter states: ‘I think it is correct’.
