Refers to reduction in payments from Guardians of the Cork Union. (1p) 3. 27 Jan & 21 Feb 1846 Printed circular from the Blind Asylum, re. resolution with appeal on behalf of the blind for contributions. With MS. note at rear from F.Lloyd, Hon. Sec. to Richard Dowden. (2pp) 4. 6 Feb - 23 Nov 1855 Series of notices relating to meetings of the managing committee of the County and City of Cork Asylum for the Industrious Blind, South Terrace, Cork. Matters considered include 'application to admit Ellen Stockat as an inmate', 'report from Ladies Visiting Committee', etc. (6 items/6pp) 5. 8 Feb 1859 MS. Draft 18th Annual Report of the Industrious Blind Asylum, by Richard Dowden, Hon. Sec. for the year 1858. 'The confidence which the public continues to manifest in the management of the Asylum is proved from the numbers sent by the Guardians of Workhouses....'. Acknowledges various donations and bequests, efforts of committees, etc. (9pp) 6. nd ?1850s Printed copy of letter from Helena Callanan, 'For All the Inmates of the Asylum', to 'Dear Sir'. MS. note at top 'From the Cork Examiner'. Letter thanks person for 'warm interest' shown for 'our welfare', and expresses gratitude to the committee, the Board of Guardians, and to the citizens of Cork. (2pp) 7. 12-13 Nov [?1860s] Printed handbill for a 'Sale of Work and Concerts' in aid of the Blind Asylum, Infirmary Road. Stalls include, fancy work, all prize stall, country produce and flowers, refreshments and inmates' work. Music arranged by Miss Henderson Williams, also, childrens concert. (1p) (6 copies)

Quebec Appeal

Printed 2nd Address of 'Inhabitants of Quebec to their fellow subjects in the United Kingdom and the Colonies...visited by a fresh calamity of Fire'. Also, circular from Quebec Fire Relief Committee , Dublin, requesting subscriptions to assist Quebec where 'nearly two-thirds of the entire population.... [are] ....left without home, food, or clothing', and referring to Ireland's '...large debt of gratitude to Quebec for their undeviating charities to our Emigrants...'.
