MS. letter from [?J. Montaigue/ Luitaigne], 1 Great Denmark Street, to Richard Dowden. He would like to assist the Blind Asylum, but he thinks it a 'bad plan' to promote one charity by destroying another equally good'. He wishes Dowden would assist the Board in getting a good loan fund in Cork.

1. 24 Aug 1835 MS. letter from the office of Spring Rice (Lord Monteagle), Chancellor of the Exchequer, Downing Street, to Richard Dowden, 11 Brown Street, Cork. Acknowledges receipt of letter and informs him that the Excise survey on vineger is under consideration. (1p plus envelope)

2. 9 Sep 1848 MS. letter from [Lord Monteagle], Park Street. He is only entitled to one order to the House of Lords. Sends one for Colonel Shelbourne. All at request of Father Mathew. (1p)

(With slip in Hebrew script 'peace in Israel...THINK AND THANK'.)
