1. 17 Dec 1844 MS. letter from Robert Milliken, Bandon, to 'Dr Sir', Richard Dowden. He has not been unmindful of 'scientific pursuits', and sends a bottle containing a Gorgeon worm found in Kilbrogan, asking that the Royal Cork Institution observe it more closely. (1p)

2. nd [Sep 1849] As above, concerning application for a job at the [School of Design] .( 1p)

3. 2 Sep 1849 As above. (1p)

4. nd [1853] As above, concerning job as caretaker of the Athenaeum. (2pp)

5. nd [1853] As above. He is confined to his room for 3 months and is withour food or fire and is the advanced age of 86. He is '...struggling to avoid the workhouse, to escape which I would rather die...'. Requests assistance as he is the oldest Freeman of Cork and one of the oldest citizens, but is ineligible for relief from the St.Vincent Society (St. Vincent De Paul Society). (2pp)

6. nd [1853] As above. He is in greatest distress, requests assistance. (1p)

7. 22 Feb 1853 As above. Enquires over indelible crayons at the School of Design which he can make on very reasonable terms. (2pp)

8. [24 March 1853] As above. Requesting assistance. (1p)
