Thanks him for basket of flowers roots, etc. Mentions various topics including his battery of brass cannon, his brother John who is a surgeon at Davenport, social activities, his youth in Dunscombes Wood, Jennings Soda Water factory, shock at new houses, English mannerisms, two sketches male and female of 'Russell Square Island', etc. (8pp plus envelope)

MS. letter from James MacKay, 34 Duncan Street, [Cork], to 'Sir', Richard Dowden, George's Street. Introduces himself and sends on a 'miscellany' of poems. Solicits a subscription for publication of another collection of poems. He left Limerick, his native city, for Dublin, to seek subscribers and now had over 400 names on his list.
