Extent: 2 items Scope and Content:
1. [Feb-Mar] 1833 MS. letter from William L.Keys [cousin of Richard Dowden], Cloghroe Mills, to 'Dear Rd.', Richard Dowden, Mr.Jennings Manufactory, Brown Street, Cork. He was surprised to hear that a child of Mr. Clears, who died of Cholera, was by Dowden's directions, put in his father's vault without his knowledge or consent, and says that this will 'endanger the lives of others', or 'leave the vault entirely useless to our family', as anyone who would go in there in the future 'would face the most imminent danger of their lives'. (2pp) 2. 5 Mar 1833 As above. He received his letter and 'it is a very vexatious and a very dangerous piece of knowledge'. He spoke to Dr. Barter, who visits cholera patients, who agreed that it was an improper thing to be done and dangerous to any who would enter the vault. If the child died of any other disease but cholera, they would not think anything about it. (3pp)
