The volume records labourer’s name, total days and/or hours worked, over time, total wages, national insurance, nett wages, bonus, and remarks. Totals and other expenses for each week are noted at the end of weekly entries. Ships worked on are generally also noted, and most entries are stamped as ‘Examined’ by the Accountant’s Department of the company, or by ‘Coast Lines Limited Audit Department’. Inside the front cover are notes on wage increases granted. Some later Quay Labourers’ and Quay Wages books differ somewhat , but contain largely the same information.
