Weekly record of wages paid to company staff. The volume notes the employee name, wages, insurance (health and unemployment), and th e employee’s signature [as proof of receipt of wages]. Weekly totals are noted, with other accounting information. In some later volumes, pages are date- stamped as ‘Entered’ by the company’s Accounts Office. For most weeks a Summary is given breaking down wages under different headings. In the first volume, these begin as Office Expenses, Quay, and Cartage. ‘Stores’ apparently replaces ‘Quay’ in later summaries. Summary headings in other volumes include Passage Money, Claims Wages, Cartage, Works, Office Expenses, and others.
