From Michael Stames

174

Letter from Michael Stames, Section 1 Wing 2, Female Gaol Cork describing life in the Gaol. He hasn't seem some friends in other wings for five weeks and he is the only representative of Cobh in his wing. Macrone helps pass the time and he has made several bags, mats, frames and rings. Requests to be remembered to mutual friends and mentions Jacho Harding was recently released "Poor beggar was sick a long time, ever since the hunger strike in Cork Jail". He is in good form enquiring "what about our compensation claim Jim". Eva [his wife] is doing well with their business and comments on sales of publicity material for "The Shied". When he hears of a big picture coming he gets the advertising for it and the Coliseum announces this on the screen. He supposes Seamus heard about Alec and the Strike "The poor beggar is all the time falling in for it". 2pp
