Similar to the two preceding files, most letters are from 1940 to 1947. This file contains laundry bills from the Metropole Laundry (21 April 1945). Other recurring correspondents are Minch Norton, maltsters, Dublin; JA Miller, Business Systems and Printing, Dublin; Castlelyons Co-Op. There is much reference to wartime shortages and emergency powers, with many letters from the Department of Industry and Commerce present. Also present is a small bundle of letters from March-April 1947 from County Committees of Agriculture, making seed orders. Printed matter placed at back of file. B609/1/E/4 Letters received, Suppliers, c1940-48. Letters, grouped together in A-Z order by suppliers’ name. Goods supplied include coal, stationery, sacks, and services such as engineering. The letters mainly cover suppliers named from letters M to S. Correspondents include: JJ Murphy (brewers); Plant Protection (pesticides); FC Porte (electrical engineers); Shorthorn Society (membership organisation); Stephenson, Clarke, and Associates (coal exporters); and Sutton’s (coal importers). B609/1/E/5 Letters received, c1939-55. Letters from customers, mainly farmers and growers, with some from agents and small suppliers, regarding sale and purchase of barley and seed barley. The letters are in A-Z order, but mainly cover only the letters K-S, with a few B-D items.
B609/1/E/6 Other General Correspondence, 1962-67. This small file contains letters from AGS, IME, and E Smithwick & Sons, brewers. Correspondence with customers and suppliers present is mainly from 1967.
B609/1/E/7 Other General Correspondence, 1963-65. Mainly incoming letters, arranged in A-Z order. The letters are generally in regard to goods and services, with many unsolicited. Correspondents include Associated Farm Suppliers (a company in which JHB holds shares); Bank of Ireland; Coyle Assurance; and IME.
