B609/7/D/6 Final Reports and Results of the Experimental Barley Plots, 1901-04; 1905-07; 1906-10. Three volumes, printed by DATI. The first two volumes are largely written by John H Bennett. DATI is described as the author of the last, which has the slightly different title Results of Experiments on the Growth of Barley, 1906-10. In this last, the object of the experiments is stated to be to determine ‘1. The most suitable variety of barley to grow in Ireland. 2. The most advantageous and economical artificial manures for barley. The results are being considered from two standpoints: - (a.) The advantages to be gained by the farmer in yield and market value. (b.) The merits of the crop produced for malting and brewing respectively’. It is noted that the experiments have been conducted since 1901 by DATI ‘with the aid of a contribution from Messrs A Guinness, Son, & Co, Ltd’.
