B609/6/D/1 Farm Valuations, 1924-81. Valuation of stock, including livestock, crops, and other property of JHB’s Farm at Ballinacurra. No valuations for 1964 or 1965 present. Valuations from 1935 on were prepared by W Marsh & Sons, Auctioneers, South Mall, Cork. These are described as valuations of farm stock and crops at the Maltings, Ballinacurra, Midleton, Co Cork. Earlier valuations, and that for 1934, refer to farms at Ballinacurra, Charleston, and Ram Hill. Many valuations have related items attached, such as lists of specific crops or herds. Valuations 1928-30 contain lists of cattle giving the name of each animal (‘Lily, Daisy, Red Rose…’).

B609/6/D/3 Stats Book, June 1959 to June 1981. Record of stock on hand: farm stock (including livestock and materials), timber stock, malting stock (e.g., fuels), and national insurance.
B609/6/D/4 Statements on distribution of crops, including stock, 1964-65, and statements (some draft) regarding hay and silage, cattle, and beet, 1965. Small file.
B609/6/D/5 Farm file, c1942-75. Includes contract to grow sugar for Irish Sugar; pea contract; and form for license to keep a bull. There is also a blank form of agreement for JHB as a grower at Ramshill. Also present is some correspondence with DoA, and rate collections declarations, including forms regarding the employee allowance in respect of rates. [See also B609/3/H/12 above] B609/6/D/6 ‘Notes on Cattle’: DoA Letters, 1929-49. Letters and related matter, mainly from the Department of Agriculture, regarding dairy management, including the Department’s Dairy Cattle Scheme, and dairy registrations and butter levies. The Cattle Registration Scheme involves inspections (e.g., 22 January 1931) and recording of milk yields (15 March 1937). JHB is also registered as a producer of non-creamery butters (28 December 1035). The file also contains a memorandum regarding the Dairy Produce (Price Stabilisation) Act, 1935, and tabular forms recording milk sales from August 1929 to January 1931. Also present are some applications to the local authority for registration of dairymen, and of JHB as cowkeepers and purveyors of milk. In addition, the file contains a memorandum from Midleton Cow Testing Association (31 December 1934), a list of JHB’s shorthorn cattle herd at 14 March 1933, and some letters from Albert Agricultural College, and others, regarding animal feed (e.g., 14 July 1936).
