File, mainly comprised of letters from Thomas Exham & Sons, solicitors, to Mrs West, regarding conveyances of premises and property owned or sought by JHB, and Company matters. At the front of the file is a sub-file relating to Mrs Mary Barry’s public house in Ballinacurra. This premises is seemingly leased from JHB, and the correspondence relates to the disposal of the license and the return of the house to JHB [see also B609/4/C/17 and B609/9/E/14]. The remaining items, excepting the last two, are in chronological order, and relate to a range of properties and subjects: Company name change (c1952); a case against a contractor (7 January 1953); compensation from Cork County Council for Compulsory Purchase of Labourers’ Cottage Plots from JHB (e.g., 25 June 1953); Company documents held by Exhams (11 November 1953 to 21 April 1954); cases against tenants of JHB houses (e.g., Gleeson case, 18 June to 16 November 1954); extension to Cereal Station (31 August 1954); letting of Rosehill garden (April 1954 to October 1955). Also placed on this file is an 1899 copy rental of the Rosehill property, and a note by John H Bennett regarding development plans, in which he outlines his credit position and the value of property held by him. Also present is a letter from ED Rohan regarding rent on the lands known as the Paddocks, part of the lands known as Skellys, rented by Bennett from Colonel Longfield. B609/6/D

Farm Records, 1924-81

Farm Records, 1924-81. Records including valuations, stock books, and correspondence concerning the management and operation of the Farm at Ballinacurra, owned and operated by JHB. Some of the land was rented for experimental growths by the DoA, in addition to the land attached to the Cereal Station, so there is some overlap between farm and Cereal Station records. Files relating to both, and to administrative arrangements, occur below [see B609/7/B/20-22 and B609/7/C/10-13]. The farm includes lands at Charleston and Ram Hill, though these are sometimes regarded as separate farms. [See also dairy and farm ledgers among financial records above: B609/3/C/19-22 and correspondence, especially B609/1/D]
