19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Captain William Shea was previously Master of the Sutton barque Charles in 1869 and the schooner Wave 1864 – 8. He was the father of Mate William Shea; they both provided an address of 23 Friar’s Walk at that time in UK M&M papers. This was a popular ship’s name: there are twenty pages of ships named Eliza in Lloyd’s for 1833.

Captain Laurence Nowlan documented Scilly to have been the port of registration, while Lloyd’s listed the port change in 1840- 41 and James Nowlan’s continued captaincy.
