Captain John Dempsey appears to be one month older than Captain William Dempsey (b.1809, Kinsale) in UK M&M records and they were therefore likely to have been cousins rather than brothers.

Captain John O’Brien obtained a Mate Certificate while he was captain of this vessel.

This ship sailed on the Cork to Trinidad route. This 1819 brig, owned by Large, was first described of Newcastle construction, then later of Durham. Perhaps on the south bank of the Tyne River. Other Large-owned ships included Celia Large and William Large. Mate William Martin would be back on the Cork brig, Lauriston in West Indies trade 1843 – 4. Later he held diverse roles including Mate on a 34t smack Victoria & Albert in Portugal trade in 1845 and Mate on the 185t brig Princess Royal of Cork in the transport of emigrants to Boston in 1849 and in 1850.
