The Knights of Cork were shipowners and shipbuilders (Appendix 6: Shipyard, Knight).

Seaman Ebenezer Deaves was likely to have been closely related to Captain Henry Deaves (b.1809, Cork; Cert: 3145) (see Thomas Hanford ). Another Ebenezer Deaves (b.1815; Cert: 3155) was an AB seaman on the Deaves’ ship Pomona of Cork. These two Ebenezers were possibly one and the same. The Deaves were a Cork Quaker family, related both by marriage and in business to the Harveys (see Apollo ).
