Captain David Murphy and Mate William Foster both served previously on Dominica and Urania .

Mate John Twohig, who was captain of Sutton’s Staghound 1864 – 9, when he obtained his Master Certificate, was a son of Captain John Twohig (b.1804, Kinsale). He was related to the Suttons and would drown two years later in the Bristol Channel, when he was the captain of the Sutton’s Shields , which was run down and sunk returning from Newport to Cork. Mate James Kidney was a boatswain here (an elevated AB seaman role). Mate William Dineen was previously Mate on Abraham Sutton’s George Lawrence before becoming Master of Abraham Sutton’s Girl I Love which, after this voyage, he would purchase and remain as captain until 1883.
