19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

1822 the ship was driven ashore at Youghal, Co Cork ( ibid ). Three further years of service after the latter mishap were documented in Lloyd’s. This ship was trading with the Barbadoes in early years. There would be two Captain Edwards of the next generation from Youghal, John Henry Edwards (b.1833, Youghal) and Abraham Edwards (b.1841, Youghal). Information, other than Lloyd’s Register, on these captains of James Fitzpatrick has proved elusive. Mate George M Wheatley Atkinson became Mate and Master of John Pedder in coastal, Baltic, West Indies and American trade between 1826 and 1837. He obtained his Master Certificate in 1850.
