Michael Kennefick 1829 – 92 was a shipowner and managing director of the Shipbuilding Co. in Crosshaven. He was a Cork Harbour Commissioner (Mercantile for Lower Harbour) 1885 – 92 (O’Riordan). Captain Robert Best held a Mate Certificate from 1868. Captain William Best was Master of Ellen Drinan 1839 – 42 and obtained his Master Certificate in 1851. Captain James Best lacked certification.
