19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Captain Thomas Malony also captained Emerald of Cork. He returned to George & Henry twice between 1854 and 1864 as master. Captain John Flahava n was the Captain J Flavin on Lloyd’s. He documents his ownership 1848 – 62 and lived on Evergreen St, Cork in 1869. Quite a common mariner street address in those times.

This ship (Reg: 52.554) disappeared on CLIP in 1876 only to reappear as the James A Harley in 1878. This ship was trading in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea in the early years and North and South America in later years.

Additional information:

Captain Andrew Hart was probably the Captain A Hart in Lloyd’s.

Mate Joseph Scrafton earned his Master Certificate in 1869.
