19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Mate John Hefferen was previously mate on Abraham Sutton’s Parilla.

Mate (future Captain) Nathaniel Sutton (b.1855, Cork) was a son of Captain Robert Sutton (b.1826/29, Kinsale) and grandson of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty). Mate John Foley previously captain on Abraham Sutton’s Iris in 1872, was listed as boatswain on George Sutton in 1883; he also unfortunately went down with the ship. Mate John Veale while only briefly on this ship, is listed to document another generation of that Dungarvan mariner family. Seaman Timothy Deasy spent his adult life as an AB on this ship and also died in 1883. Seaman John Driscoll likewise drowned in 1883.
