Fate of ship:

Sailing from Newport to Cork with coal, the George D Fullerton foundered the 13 July 1890 at 3pm. This was at a bearing ESE distance twenty miles from Smalls Light House. The crew were saved. The effects of crew and documents of ship went down with her (IMNCL report). Captain Benjamin V Reynolds had three master mariner brothers, Nicholas Reynolds (b.1822, Cork), who married Catherine Sutton (b.1829), a daughter of George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty), Robert Francis Reynolds (b.1832, Passage West) and John Reynolds (b.1842, Cork). Captain Benjamin V Reynolds was married to Mary Catherine Walsh (b.1848) on 29 Nov 1866 at St Pat’s, Cork. She was a daughter of Captain Jeremiah Walsh (b.1815, Dungarvan) and Catherine Sutton (b.1822, Courtmacsherry) and a granddaughter of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty). Seaman Thomas Jeffers (b.1836, Courtmacsherry) next sailed with the Suttons on Nancy McSweeney in 1890.
