The George was a Prize Vessel. Kinsale was a prize port, where such vessels were auctioned.

Captain Timothy Donovan had six sons and two daughters, of whom Andrew (b.1834) was a Cork sailmaker, shipowner and the son-in-law of Captain George Sutton (b.1804) while Timothy (b.1839) became a master mariner.
