Pictou, located in New Brunswick, adjacent to Prince Edward Island and east of Tatma, was an important Canadian port.

Captain William Roche apprenticed out of the Port of Philadelphia before sailing out of Kinsale as Master of the Kinsale vessels Industry, Nelson, Hazard, Murre and Forester , 1820-38 (Appendix 6: Fish Trade). Captain Emmanuel Murray) would captain Robert Lawe after the apparent demise of Captain Nathaniel Sutton (b.1794, Clonakilty) c.1849 (see Robert Lawe for additional details). Apprentice John Murray was previously on the George of Kinsale. Otherwise, he sailed largely out of other Irish ports until obtaining his Mate Certificate in 1851.
