19th Century Cork Sutton Mariners, Sailing Ships and Crews

Seaman (future Captain) Timothy Donovan would marry Julia Dempsey of Scilly, Kinsale 15 Nov 1832 and their son, Timothy John Donovan (b.1839, Kinsale), would also become a master mariner (see Betsey ). Their oldest son, Andrew Donovan, b.1834, would marry Margaret Sutton, daughter of Captain George Sutton (b.1804, Clonakilty), at St Pat’s Cork on 12 April 1866, with Captain Nicholas Reynolds (b.1822, Cork) as a witness.

Captain John Gibbons was married at St Pat’s Cork in February 1849 to Catherine Sutton, daughter of Captain Thomas Sutton (b.1797/98, Clonakilty); Catherine would die in the September of that same year. Captain David Flynn would have been the Captain D Fly nn in Lloyd’s. He was previously Mate on Dawson’s Henry Paterson .
