Walsh and doesn’t accept the platform of Sinn Féin as ‘a principle or as a line of permanent tactics’. ‘I don’t believe that abstention is necessary . . .’ He is glad the old party is ended and that John Dillon will not be leader – ‘his speeches are lamentable! Will write to Cardinal Logue regarding the “Case stated” of Ireland. If it '...is not signed by the Bishops it will lose a lot of force'.

An appeal from the IRPDF committee which is being sent to each Sinn Féin Cumann. As the representative on the Árd Chomhairle, they request his special personal effort to see that the Cumainn take action. The committee impresses ‘the acute need for funds to support the dependents of the men who are in jail for engaging in the national struggle.’ Suggests establishing a committee in the area to raise funds through a Gift Sale. Encloses leaflet of the IRPDF, ‘An Appeal’ which describes the work of the fund and lists the officials of same, including De Valera, Michael Collins, Madame O’Rahilly, Countess Plunkett and others.
