Referring to a recent show he states it would have been a success only for poor weather on the second day. (Andrew O’Shaughnessy) was unable to help placing Fawsitt with the staff at the ‘Catholic’ Standard. He is concerned at the volume of articles Fawsitt is writing, worrying that this is placing him under ‘mental strain’. Commenting on local affairs Cronin states ‘a good many were annoyed’ by an ‘outburst’ in the press by Henry Ford. He states further that F.J. Daly (Frank Joseph Daly, TD.), Sean French, and Commissioner Monahan (Philip Monahan) have made moves to induce Henry Ford to ‘relent & come & visit Cork’.
Scope and Content: Letter thanking Mrs Fawsitt for invitation to visit and stay at St Petroc in Dublin, regretting he cannot leave Cork until the I.D.A (Industrial Development Association) annual meeting is over. Hopes his sister can visit in his place. Latest local news concerning Henry Ford suggests he has reassured the locals after what he describes as a ‘stormy atmosphere prevailing locally concerning the relations of the Ford industry with Cork’.
