Scope and Content: Letter advising that in relation to his apparent decision to reject offer employment in the land commission Fawsitt had held an ‘inconclusive’ meeting with the President and is awaiting a reply from the Department of Finance as to his own letter of 25 January. Fawsitt states he cannot formally write to decline offer of position of Chief Examiner of Titles.

Scope and Content: Letter quoting President Eamon de Valera: ‘ “there was nothing inconclusive in Mr Fawsitt’s interview with me. He definitely gave me to understand that in the circumstances he was not prepared to accept the position of Chief Examiner particularly in view of the experience which he had that very day in court’ (Judge Wylie).

Scope and Content: Letter stating he cannot agree with President Eamon de Valera’s account of their meeting on 30 January. Fawsitt is willing to accept the post on the terms he set out in his letter to the Department of Finance. States that it was the president who had informed him of Judge Wylie’s protest to Connolly against Fawsitt’s nomination to the post. Fawsitt is unwilling to compromise on his terms as set out in letter of 25 Janaury to the Department of Finance.
