Scope and Content: Newspaper article with headline: ‘Civil Servants: Cases of Men who were Dismissed’. Includes a series of questions posed to the Minister for Finance by Eamon de Valera with response from President Cosgrave on behalf of the Minister for Finance. The question is as to the number of applications made and their progress since October 1927. The reply states 55 applications have been made, with 13 re- employed in the civil service and 23 refused re-employment to date.

Scope and Content: Notes referenced as quoted from Dail Eireann Parliamentary Debate, 18 March 1925. The contents refer to sections of the Civil Service Regulation Act (1924), for example ‘definition of civil servant’.
Scope and Content: Letter forwarding Cox copies of correspondence in relation to Fawsitt’s dismissal from the civil service. Also attached is a list of ‘preparatory notes’ providing a summary of the events leading to his dismissal. The notes are headed: ‘re. G. Campbell’, ‘re. Lindsay Crawford’, ‘Professor Smiddy’, and ‘my visit to the states’. Within these notes Fawsitt states that he now understands Lindsay Crawford was the author of the Gaelic American article critical of his visit to the United States in May 1923.
