Scope and Content: Letter marked ‘personal and private’. Fawsitt writes to state he regrets he could not speak with Blythe personally owing to Blythe’s ill health. He refers to Blythe as a ‘an old-time friend’. The letter is Fawsitt’s request for re-instatement in the civil service, which he states is following advice received by Joseph McGrath from Mr McGilligan. Fawsitt states he is aware that the matter of dismissed civil servants will soon come before the cabinet.
Scope and Content: Letter or statement written in support of Fawsitt’s reinstatement to the civil service. Although unsigned, later correspondence suggests it was written following an informal meeting of Cork politicians and businessmen with President Cosgrave on his visit to Cork and trip aboard the Kenmare. A list of names is present on a subsequent letter from Donal Cronin to Diarmaid Fawsitt (ref. PR81/1/4/D/06/12).

Crowley and others in their efforts to argue for Fawsitt’s reinstatement in the civil service in an interview with President Cosgrave on board the Kenmare. The letter refers to others at that interview including Liam de Roiste, Frank Daly, John J. Horgan, Lord Mayor Sean French, and others.

The letter notes the cabinet’s decision and Ernest Blythe’s request that all civil servants wishing to be reinstated to the civil service must complete attached forms. The forms attached, marked ‘Victimised Civil Servants’, are incomplete and blank.
