Scope and Content: Letter forwarding Fawsitt cheque of £10 for ‘little Brendan’. Evidently Fawsitt has requested financial aid as Dowdall goes on to state that he is ‘hard hit’ and his brother Tom’s account is overdrawn. However he promises to send Fawsitt £100. States that Pat Crowley and John O’Neill will also assist. If Fawsitt is willing to visit he believes AOS (Andrew O’Shaughnessy) and Frank Daly will assist ‘for the emergency’. Dowdall regrets that Fawsitt’s sale passed up. This appears to relate to the failure to sell his property at St Petroc.

Scope and Content: A letter marked ‘personal’ regarding T.P. Dowdall’s request for Fawsitt to collect all available data on free trade and protection, and different fiscal policies of foreign states. Fawsitt states that he cannot be actively involved in the new Protectionist League because of his employment in a specialist capacity by the council of the I.I.D.A (Inc.). Fawsitt states that the I.I.D.A. represents both jurisdictions in Ireland and that the council has chosen not to concern itsef with the question of tarriffs in either jurisdiction.
