Scope and Content: Black and white studio photograph of Fawsitt and McGuire in formal business clothes with false backdrop depicting the US Capitol building. Fawsitt is shown seated with McGuire standing by his side. A note on the reverse of the postcard remarks the date of the photograph as October 1919, and also notes the date of McGuire’s death (29 June 1923). The little note is signed in Irish, D. Fasait (Diarmaid Fawsitt), 17 July 1923.

Scope and Content: Draft typed sympathy letter with manuscript corrections, written following news of the death of James K. McGuire. Fawsitt refers to his longstanding friendship with McGuire, dating back to 1915. He refers to Mr McGuire as ‘an oasis in an imperfect State’. Also appended to the sympathy letter is a postscript note of sympathy from Charles A. McAllister.
