(should be Jervis Sir John, Knt. Captain H.M.S. “Foudrayant” (1782). (Afterwards the Celebrated Earl of St. Vincent). It may be remarked that in the vessel he at this time commanded “The Foudrayant” he engaged and took, after a short Action, the ship “Pegase” 74. One of the very rare instances of a single Combat between Line of Battle Ships.
