Merchant's Letter, 1797. Copy letter from a representative of the Hewitt family (founders of a distillery) to Joseph Pike in Chudligh, Devonshire. The Pikes were prominent merchants and bankers in Cork. This letter describes the attempted French invasion of December 1796 at Bantry Bay and the effect it had on business.(CCCA U15B Hewitt Papers)
