Innisfallen ferry, 1948. Ferry services were a vital part of the life of Cork for both passengers and cargo. The City of Cork Steam Packet Company, known from 1936 as the British and Irish Steam Packet Company (B&I), operated ferries between Cork and Britain until 1983. Five of these ships bore the name Innisfallen: this one was the third of the name and operated on the route to Fishguard between 1948 and 1967.(CCCA U370 B.& I. Steampacket Company)
