Volume recording passenger way bills for steamer journeys to Cork from UK ports [usually Liverpool or Fishguard]. Each page is headed ‘Passenger Way Bill of the Steamer {name inserted] to Cork. From [port inserted] on [date inserted]’. Entries record sale of Cabin and Deck tickets, an d related detail, eg, singles, returns, transfers, place of purchase. Some steamers, such as the SS Bandon, appear to have carried only a handful of paying passengers, and may mainly have been goods ships. Others, such as the SS Ardmore, were evidently mainly passenger steamers. Pages are initialled and stamped as examined by the company’s Accountant’s Department.
