The volume records weekly wages for the Works department of the company. Workers are grouped by their job: shipwrights, apprentices, assistants, turners, fitters, joiners, drivers, coopers, plumbers, smiths, riveters, brass foundry, sawmill, clerks, labourers, and others. Fields record number of men, name, days worked and amounts paid, weekly totals, and observations. Weekly accounts are examined and signed. Some pages have been removed from the volume, eg, pages 6-33 (7 May to 4 June 1874).
