RELATED NEWS and EVENTS * Cork Ship News Albion (Capt. Mills), departed for New York from Cork 28 Feb, put back, then sailed again 18 Mar. *Large numbers of Irish arriving on ships from Great Britain Focusing on US arrivals, 70% of all immigrants from the UK for every year between 1825 and 1846 were Irish (Cohn 2009, 24-31). * Fast Atlantic Crossings Spring 1827 was notable for some remarkably speedy transatlantic westbound voyages (see above). The Southern Reporter documented Captain Henry Bowman on Dominica of Cork arriving at St John’s Newfoundland on 24 April, 10 days out from Cork. This voyage matched the Cork Fish Trader, Clara , that would make a 10-day eastbound voyage from St
