Westward Cork Migration by Sail 1815-1860 by John Sutton

PART III CATALOGUE OF CORK-BASED EMIGRANT SHIPS 1815-60

Voyaged to Quebec, New York, New Orleans, Boston and St John NB Captain John Stirling was documented on another Scott vessel in 1847, and this was almost certainly him for a voyage on Scott’s Swan . Mate Richard Hughes became master of Swan 1840-43 and another Scott vessel, Effingham, in 1848. He previously served on Lochiel of Cork with the senior Captain Samuel Hughes b.1779 of Southampton at which time BT120 and BT112 #14289 records gave Southampton as his birthplace also. Similarly, Captains Errington and Tunbridge served on other Scott ships.
