Rowland and the Revd. Archdeacon Austen for painting the Mayor's Gallery at S. In pursuance of the powers given us by the Act for the regulation of the City, the Mayor, &c., do fix 1600 Globe lamps for the City and Suburbs, not being nearer to each other than 15 yards (except at the front of any public building), nor at a greater distance than 30 yards, to commence lighting 9 August every year, and continue burning, from sun setting to sun rising, until 9 June following; each lamp to have a burner with two lights, to be supplied with good cotton wick of not less than 20 threads, with spermaceti oil, to be cleaned every day, and snuffed once or oftener every night so as to afford a clear light, and we further fix the sum of 19s. shall be paid for lighting, &c., each of said lamps from 9 Aug. to 9 June during the term; we shall contract for lighting the same amounting in the whole to the yearly sum of £1520.
