1040 OPENING OF THE PASSAGE FROM PRINCES STREET '1'0 THE NEW MARKETS.

paid on the day of setting, and the residue quarterly; It., that the several houses in Castle Street, belonging to the Corporation, be set by auction on the Exchange, together or separate, for one year; It., that James Lee's interest in a cellar held by him under Mrs. Daunt, adjoining the new mar- kets, which he holds for the residue of 300 years, at a yearly rent of nine pounds, be purchased from him for 250 guineas, for the use of the Mayor, &c., and said yearly rent of £9 shall be paid as it becomes due; It., that the Mayor, &c., pass the Corporation bond to said Lee, for 250 guineas, with interest till paid at 6 per cent.; It., that £500 be taken up at the lawful interest, or that the same shall be raised by granting annuities not exceeding ten per cent. for the lives of the persons who shall advance the same or lend it, and that the Mayor, &c., shall execute a bond to the lenders, or deed of annuity, as done to former annuitants; It., that an address of congratulation be prepared from the Mayor, &c., to be presented to His Maj. on his happy recovery. .. Present--The Mayor, Sher. Maylor; Alden. Travers, Lawton, Owgan, Kent, Kellett, Sir J. Franklin, S. Rowland, Kingston; Mr. Willcocks, Coles, and W aggett, C. S. 19 March, 1789. Ordered, that £4 11s. be paid to Thomas Owgan, Esq., one year's rent of a cellar held from him adjoining the Mayoralty house ; It., that an annuity of £30 be granted out of the revenues of the Corporation to Edmund Barrett, of Corke, wine cooper, for the life of his son Edmund B., now aged about 24 years, in consideration of £300 paid by said Edmund to the Chamberlain, for the use of the Mayor, &c. ; It., that the sum of £500, agreed at last C. D. H., to be raised at interest on an annuity, shall, when raised, be applied in opening the passage from Princes Street into the New Markets, and such other works as shall be necessary to make the Fowl and Fish Markets; It., that the addresses now prepared from the Mayor, &c., to His Majesty, and His Excell. the Lo.-Lieut., be forwarded by the Mayor to our Re~order and Representatives, to be presented to His Excell. the Lo.-Lieut. Present-The Mayor and Sheriffs ; Alden. Webb, Travers, Lawton, Owgan, Kent, Kellett, Sr. J. Franklin, Rowland, Kingston; Mr. Willcocks and Waggett.
