PURCHASE OF HOUSES IN CASTLE STREET.

house in Castle Street, now·in the possession of Mr. Madden, sadler, on his making out his title and conveying same to the Mayor. It., that a contract be executed between the Mayor, &c., and Mr. John Bray, for 100 lamps erected in addition to 1500 lamps heretofore contracted for on the same terms and with like powers as are agreed on between the Mayor, &c., and said Bray, respecting said 1500 lamps. It., £5 17s. to .Arthur Haynes, tyler, for whitewashing the Mayoralty House and plaistering the kitchen. Present--The Mayor, Sher. Orpen; .Ald 80 • Travers, Lawton, Owgan, Kingston, Sir J. Franklin, Row.land, Kent ; Mr. Willcocks, Coles, and Kellett. 9 Dec., 1788. Ordered, that £1000 be paid the Right Worshipful the Mayor in full for _) his Salary. The contract for repairing, &c., the coal barrels, not being finally carried into execution with Mr. Walter Hussey Fitton, he having this day declined without having possession of the barrels, which this Board are of opinion may be attended with loss to the collector of the coal revenue, the delivery being for that purpose necessary to be annexed to the office of W aterbailiff, and John Travers having offered to undertake said contract on said terms for three years, ordered, that the contract be entered into by the Mayor, &c., with said Travers. Present--The Mayor, Sher. Maylor; .Alden. Travers, Lawton, Morrison, Sir J. Franklin, Rowland, Kent ; Mr. Willcocks and Coles. 22 Dec., 1788. Ordered, that £1148. 1!d. be paid the Widow Ballard, a quarter of a year's salary. . It., that the Memorial of Joseph Reed and Robert Travers, the Pages appointed by the Corporation to attend his Grace the Duke of Rutland, late Lo.-Lieut., be forwarded by the Clerk of the Council to the Rt. Hon. the Sec. of State, to be presented to the Lo.-Lieut. It., 2 guineas to the Trustees of the Pipe Water Scheme, two years' pipe water to the Mansion House. Present-The Mayor and Sheriffs; Ald•.
