Kent have six sentry-boxes made for the use of this Cjty; f' It., 5 guineas to the sentinel who refused to take a bribe for permitting the prisoners in the North Gaol to make their escape. . . Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Piersy and Morrison ; .Alden. Wetherall, Travers, Butler, Lawton, Owgan, Kent, Sir J. Franklin ; Mr. Izod, Will- cocks, and C. S. 8 Jan., 1788. Ordered, that the bond passed by the Corporation to John Fitton, Esq., for £500, and which has been assigned by his reps. to the Governors of the Work House, be taken up and a new bond passed by the Mayor, &c., to said Governors for said sum payable with interest at 5 per cent. ; It., that an address be prepared to His Excell. the Marquis of Buckingham, Lo. Lieut., on his reassuming the government of this kingdom. That the Rt. Hon. .Alleyne Fitzherbert, Prin. Sec. to Lo.-Lieut., be pre- sented with his freedom. It., that Sher. Piersy, Ald. Travers, Sir John Franklin, Mr. Izod, Mr. Willcocks, and those of C. D. H. be a committee to audit the Chamberlain and W aterbailiffs accounts.
