THE ABUTMENT OF THE KING's STATUE TO BE OF HEWN STONE.
12 Sep., 1787. Ordered, that a posting be put up on the Exchange for the Election of a \I Waterbailiff for one year; It., £14 4s. 5!d. to the Mayor, so much expended .~ at the entertainment at Blackrock, above 30 guineas ordered; It., £11 2s. 3d. ' \. to the Mayor, different sums expended by him; It., 15 guineas to Mr. Wm. 1\:.eyes, half year's rent.of the house wherein Mr. Henry !\:.night, chandler, lately dwelt. That Christopher Johnson, cooper, eldest son of Noblett Johnson, do., dec., be admitted a freeman. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Waggett and Allen; Alden. Wetherall, Travers, Butler, Kent, Sir J. Franklin, Owgan; Mr. Willcocks and C. S. 19 Sep., 1787. Ordered, that the Mayor, Sheriffs, C. S., and Sir John Franklin be a com- mittee to have the abutment of the King's statue made up with hewn stone from the ground, to prevent its falling, and to paint the same. That Marcus Beresford, Esq., eldest son of Rt. Hon. John Beresford, who is a freeman at large; Edward Rowland, Esq., eldest son of Francis R., Esq., do. ; John Fuller Harnett, Esq. ; Thomas Harris, Doctor of Physic ; John Hanning, gent. ; James Bennett, Esq., Doctor of. Physic ; Adderley Will- cocks, gent.; Revd. Francis Orpin, Clk.; and Benjamin Swayne, Esq., be admitted freemen at large. It., £36 8s. to Messrs. Shaw and Evanson for clothing for the boys in the Blue Coat Hospital; It., £12 12s. 11d. to Peter Butler, engra~er, for work done; It., that in future no money be paid out of the Corporation revenues for clothing for the Bellmen and Exchange porter, or other inferior officers, but only such as were customarily clothed by the Corporation.
