AN ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE DUKE OF RUTLAND, LO.-LIEUT.
23 Sep., 1785. This day the Mayor Elect was sworn to keep the secrets of the Council. Ordered, that £4 11s. be paid Mr. Will. Fowler, rent of a house for the accommodation of the Shandon Guard during the repairing of the Guard House; It., £10 6s. Okd. to Mr. Mayor, expended by him; It., one guinea to John Triggs, one year's keeping the Bells of the Mayoralty House in order; It., £3 11s. 7d. to Mary Ballard for sweeping the Mayor's office; It., 5 guineas to Rowland Sharp, one of the Peace officers, for his trouble in apprehending several disturbers of the Peace, and strongly recommended to this Board by the Sheriffs; It., £216s. 8d. to Heylen Mayberry, stationer, for Acts of Parliament for the Mayor•s office. Present-Mr. Mayor, Mr. Mayor Elect, Sher. Crowly and Allen; Alden. Webb, Rowland, Butler, Lawton, Harding; Mr. Saml. Rowland, Allen, C. S.; Ald. Travers and Baker. 25 Sep., 1785. That Alexander Crookshank, Esq., 4th Justice of H. M. C. of Common Pleas, be presented with his freedom in a Silver box, and John Litchfield, mercht., freeman at large. Y Ordered, that an Entertainment be prepared for His Grace Charles, Duke of Rutland, Lord-Lieut., who is expected in this City, and that Mr. Mayor, Mr. Sher. Sadlier and Lumley, Alden. Rowland, Travers, Butler, and Mr. Chr. Allen, C. S., be managers to prepare said Entertainment. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Sadlier and Lumley; Alden. Philpott, Maylor, Baker, Rowland, Travers, Butler, Kent ; Mr. Izod, and C. S. 29 Oct., 1785. That Lieut.-Col. Cavendish, Lister, of 3 Reg.
