Snowe, Esq., in testimony of his m:1ny services in the offices of Town Clerk and Clerk of the Crown and Peace; It., that a C. D. H. be held on 25 Nov., to elect a Town Clerk for this City and County thereof in the room of the late Willm. Snowe, Esq., the person elected to hold the same during his good behaviour, and no longer. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Thompson and Lindsay; Alden-. Philpott, Bury, Wrixon, Webb, Rowland,: Travers, Butler, Lawton, Owgan, Harding, Carleton, Travers; Burgess Browne, Izod and Shaw, C. S. 4 Dec., 1782. A letter from Rt. Hon. John Rely Hutchinson, H. M. Prine. Sec. of State, to the Mayor, having_been laid before the Council, mentioning the necessity and great utility of the embargo, and recommending an address of thanks to his Excellency for ~hat salutary measure, and the Council being very sensible of the great benefit which this City and the Kingdom has received from his Excellencie's wise exertions in this great national measure; or- dered, that an address of thanks be prepared accordingly, and that the common seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto, and that it be presented by the representatives for this City, if then !n Dublin, if not by the Right Ron. John Rely Hutchinson; It., that William Jones, Esq., is unanimously elected Clerk of the Council, and Notary Public for the City of Cork, and that said Jones be paid £5~ yearly for his trouble; It., that £13 19s. 9d.
