AlJ.. NEW HOUSES, CELLARS, STABLES, ETC., TO BE VALUED.
on the night of 1 Oct. ·at sun-setting to continue till sun-rising until 1 April, to be lighted with good rape-seed oil or good fish oil, or both mixed ·together, to be trimmed, &c., as often as necessary, &c.; and we fix the sum of 15s. 6!d. expenses of each of said globe lamps with the heading thereof, the single burner and Lamp iron for the same, and erecting the same, the whole amounting to £699 7s. 6d., and we do hereby ascertain that the sum of .£1 7s. 6d. ·(amounting in the whole to £1237 lOs.) shall be paid for lighting, cleaning, trimming, &c. each of said lamps ·· Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher. Kingston and Allen; Alden. Bury, Wetherall, Wrixon, Maylor, Baker, Webb, Travers, Butler, .Owgan, Harding; Mr. Browne, Travers, and Rowland• . 25 Sep., 1781. Ordered, that the Valuators of Houses, Out-Houses, Cellars,· Stables~ Linneys, and Yards, be summ9ned to value all such new buildings; It., -f that a memorial in the name of the Mayor, &c., for repealing the Act of Parliament for preventing persons being arrested for debts not e~ceeding five pounds, be prepared by Mr. Snowe and sent to our members, said law peing highly injurious to the trade of this City and to the credit of the lower class of manufacturers; It., that £26 5s. O}d. be paid to Mr. Mayo~ for sundry works by him done for the Corporation; It., that 3 guineas be paid Norris Ballard, half-a-year's Salary for attendance on the Mayor's Office in the Exchange; It., £49 19s. lld. to wm. Reynolds, gold and silver- "' smith, for work done from 20 Sep., 1780, to 1 June last. Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher. Kingston and Allen; Alden.
